Jiangsu and Zhejiang get off to a good start | The first leg of the 2024 China Track Cycling League begins

On April 23, the first race of the 2024 China Track Cycling League kicked off at the velodrome of the Zhejiang Shooting and Archery Cycling Sports Management Center in Changxing County, Zhejiang Province. It was also the first National Games points race for track cycling. The event lasted for 5 days. There are three stations this year, the first two stations are in Changxing, Zhejiang, and the finals are in Luoyang, Henan.

25 teams from 18 provinces, municipalities, and special administrative regions including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Henan, Hebei, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Heilongjiang, Guangdong, Sichuan, Yunnan, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Hong Kong Nearly 360 athletes participated in the competition.

This competition is hosted by the Chinese Cycling Association and the Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau, hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Shooting and Archery Cycling Sports Management Center and the Changxing County People's Government, and co-organized by the Changxing County Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau.

The competition has two categories, men's and women's, with nine events including sprint, time trial, individual pursuit, keirin, madison, all-around, team pursuit, and team sprint.

This morning the men’s and women’s team pursuit races and the men’s and women’s team sprint qualifying rounds started.

In the afternoon, the first round of the women's and men's 4-kilometer team pursuit competition was held, and four teams in the men's and women's groups were selected to enter the semi-finals. The top four teams in the men's group are Shanghai Sport University team, Shandong team, Guangdong Badiri Cycling and Yunnan team. The top four teams in the women's group are Shandong team, Tianjin Huade Wisdom, Shanghai Sport University team and Jiangsu team.

The highlight of today is the men's and women's team sprint competition. After the qualifying competition in the morning and the first round in the afternoon, the top four were selected. Men: Zhejiang Team, Ningbo Team, Shandong Team and Guangdong Badirui Cycling Team. Women: Jiangsu team, Beijing team, Shanghai team and Henan Badiri Blueprint team.

The battle for first and second place in the women's team sprint event started between the Jiangsu team and the Beijing team. In the end, the Jiangsu team won the championship with a time of 47.906 seconds, and the Beijing team finished second. The third place was decided between the Shanghai team and the Henan Badiri Blueprint team. At the last moment, the Shanghai team fought for the last podium seat.
